Tuesday

12:00 PM – 3:00 PM – Alternative Energy Demo Garden – Food served baked in a solar oven. An assortment of alternative energy devices will be on display including DIY solar ovens, commercial solar ovens, rocket stove, and evapotron for gray water.

2:00 PM – 3:00 PM How Nature Heals – We’ve all heard that spending time in nature is good for us, but do we know why? Forest therapy guide Hana Lee Goldin explains the science behind how nature facilitates health and wellness, and will teach us how to practice forest bathing to reap all its potent benefits (forest not required).

Wednesday 

12:00 PM – 3:00 PM – Alternative Energy Demo Garden – Food served baked in a solar oven. An assortment of alternative energy devices will be on display including DIY solar ovens, commercial solar ovens, rocket stove, and evapotron for gray water.

3:00 – 4:00 PM Speaking Truth to Plastic, One Sip at a Time – Plastic pollution is a global crisis in our soil, water and air. Plastic pollution affects the health of our planet, animals and ourselves, but solutions abound. Join Jackie Nuñez the founder of The Last Plastic Straw and Program Manager for Plastic Pollution Coalition, learn how to reduce your plastic footprint and become part of the solution to plastic pollution.

4:00 PM – 5:00 PM – Imagining the Future of Burning Man – Futurists Annette Gardner and Eric Barela will engage participants in envisioning alternative futures for Burning Man 2050. Will an unlimited number of Burner avatars frolic on a 24/7 virtual playa?  Will all camps–small and large–be required to use only solar energy?  Come and co-create your preferred future of Burning Man.

6:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Earth Party – Greening the Burn / Leave No Trace Cocktails: we will celebrate all of you Green, Eco and LNT superheros with earthy libations from the EG bar and some Earth-produced nosh to celebrate the high valued LNT /green burners! All LNT/Green camps invited!.  Without you, Black Rock City would not be sustainable!

Thursday 

11:30 AM – 12:30 PM How to Stay Green, Clean, and Beautiful, Even on the Playa – Zero waste and plastic-free is possible at BRC. Come learn a few tricks and tips for Playa and off-Playa life from dozens of burns, ancient recipes, and new ideas from around the world. Learn how to make your own wipes, how to protect your hair during the event (+ the one ingredient shampoo to clean and nourish your hair), try the one cup of water “shower” for instant refreshment and leave with the recipe of the magical cream to moisturize, remove your make-up, help you against the cold if temperatures drop at night. You’re welcome to interact and share your own magic too.

12:00 AM – 3:00 PM – Alternative Energy Demo Garden – Food served baked in a solar oven. An assortment of alternative energy devices will be on display including DIY solar ovens, commercial solar ovens, rocket stove, and evapotron for gray water.

1:00 PM – 1:30 PM Composting at BRC – Food waste can be 40% of your total waste at BRC. We explore techniques suitable for the Playa and the need to Leave No Trace, so that food does not become a stinking heavy mess. When food scraps are dealt with properly, there are not smells or flies and it’s easy to pack out to a proper compost.

3:00 PM – 4:00 PM –  Here Comes the Sun – Get an overview of options for solar cooking: which models can be bought and some that can be made. Pros and cons. At least 5 models of solar cookers/ovens available to see.

4:00 PM – 5:00 PM -Leave Big Pharma in the Dust – Alex Howe, aka Bush Ninja, has studied traditional herbalism in South Africa for the last 5 years and will help you with the BM principles of decommodification and self-reliance in meeting medicinal needs. He’ll demonstrate how to make a natural healing balm for the skin and lips and give other practical herbalism tips.

Friday

3:00 PM – 5:00 PM – Behind the Green Curtain Bike Tour: An interpretive bike tour of some of Black Rock City’s Green camps featuring solar installations, grey water set ups, recycling efforts, plastic-free living, solar cookers and much more, Come see what innovators are doing to make Black Rock City more environmentally friendly.

Saturday 

12:00 PM – 3:00 PM – Alternative Energy Demo Garden – Food served baked in a solar oven. An assortment of alternative energy devices will be on display including DIY solar ovens, commercial solar ovens, rocket stove, and evapotron for gray water.
